Seismic strengthening of column using carbon fibre

Issue:

The existing columns were vulnerable to seismic forces due to inadequate reinforcement, material aging, or structural limitations. This posed a risk of instability, cracks, and potential failure during seismic events, necessitating a proactive strengthening solution.

Solution:

SVC implemented seismic strengthening using carbon fibre wrapping, a high-performance reinforcement technique. The process involved surface preparation, application of epoxy resin, and wrapping multiple layers of high-strength carbon fibre sheets around the column. This method improved the column’s ductility, confinement, and energy dissipation capacity, making it more resilient to seismic loads.

Steps of our Projects

Step 1
Pressure Grouting for Existing column
Step 2
Applying Epoxy Putty followed by epoxy primer application
Step 3
Application of 1st & 2nd layer of carbon fibre to the columns
Step 4
Applying Carbon Fibre to Beam and Plinth Beam
Step 5
Sand sprinkling after application of Carbon Fibre to the beam & Plinth beam
